Record Number of People Fleeing Armed Attacks in Burkina Faso

The United Nations Refugee Agency has called for actions towards the numbers of people being displaced and increasing fleeing from the armed conflict in Burkina Faso. The UNHCR stated that attacks on civilians by Jihadist groups are increasing which has led to the displacement of 1.3 million people in the country. In the first half of the year, 240,000 people fled their homes to other parts of Burkina Faso, a sharp increase compared to nearly 100,000 registered during the last six months of the year 2020.

Kidnapped Victims in North-eastern Nigeria Regain Freedom

In early June, one hundred civilians mostly women and children were kidnapped in Zamfara state for over one and a half months. North-western Nigeria has been riddled with kidnapping and abductions and activities of criminal gang attacks for several years. Women and girls have been mostly affected by these kidnappings as their lives and education have been put on hold.

Women In West Darfur Suffer Mental Health Problems After Deadly Fighting.

Reports have surfaced of women affected by the West Darfur inter-communal conflict. The women of Geneina town in West Darfur are currently suffering from anxiety and depression as they have been affected by the conflict in Darfur. Women’s rights organizations have reported that women have shouldered the responsibility for caring for their families without help and protection from the government irrespective of what the WPS Agenda says.

Kenya Refugee Women Get Help from RefuSHE in the Pandemic

Women refugees are among the world’s most vulnerable persons losing out on education. These problems have intensified because of the pandemic which has hindered more girls from going to school due to government regulations to combat the pandemic. RefuSHE has offered to learn programs to refugee women and girls in Kenya.
