Wars and their complexities have severely impacted the lives of women but from the rubbles, women rebuild in the grassroots through engaging in peacebuilding and contributing politically in sensitive political contexts but there are still skepticisms with regard to the effectiveness of women’s approaches and ability to lead peacebuilding in volatile environments. This paper examines how women successfully led a peacebuilding initiative to promote peace and build a culture of peace in their communities after the genocide in Rwanda which challenged patriarchal norms in the society.
