The forum was convened to take stock of the achievements made in implementing the WPS agenda, while also identifying opportunities to accelerate action. Progress made by Regional Economic Communities in promoting the WPS agenda was applauded by the participants. The Forum also noted that the AU has made considerable efforts to put in place a policy architecture to promote the WPS agenda, including adopting the Continental Framework on WPS in 2018, which has encouraged reporting by 80 percent of AU member states. Additionally, areas that have witnessed progress in the advancement of the WPS agenda, including the growing gender parity in leadership structures at the AUC, mainstreaming of gender in AU strategies, policies, and programs, gender balance in the Panel of the Wise.
