The Office supports Madam Bineta Diop to implement her mandate as the Special Envoy of the AUC Chairperson on Women, Peace and Security. The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) appointed in 2014 the Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), with the mandate to “ensure that the voices of women and the vulnerable are heard much more clearly in peace building and in conflict resolution”. The Office supports Madam Diop across four key activity areas: High Level Advocacy and Support to Women; Policy Implementation; Building Synergies with AU Organs and Institutions; and Building Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation.
